Have  you ever sat in church and really paid attention?  I know, sometimes it is hard!
It’s early in the morning, you rushed to get to church on time, then you sit still in a pew.  Sometimes, my mind starts to wonder.  Does yours?

Did you know that the worship service we have on Sunday morning is set up the same as the disciples worshipped?  Everything we do in worship has a purpose.

Look below.  There are ten events that happen in our worship services that also happened in the early church.  See if you can figure out what the pictures mean.

Here are your options:
Preaching the Word,    Praise,    Singing,   Passing the Peace,    Confession,   Reading the Word,   Prayer,   Offering,   Witnessing

Some church services use old words and sing old hymns and others use new songs and prayers.   But no matter what style of worship, each service will have these three parts.

 1.  Gathering of the Church
This is when everyone comes together.  There may be greetings, music and song, prayer and thanksgiving.

Think about the services you have been to in the past.  Name one song or prayer that may fit in this time of worship

 2.  Proclamation and Praise
This is when the Scriptures are open to the people through readings, preaching, witnessing, music and other arts and media.

Think about the services you have been to in the past.  Name one song or prayer that may fit in this time of worship

3.  Responses and Offerings
These include acts of commitment and faith; offerings of concerns, prayers, gifts, and service for the world and for each other.

Think about the services you have been to in the past.  Name one song or prayer that may fit in this time of worship

Now that we know how a worship service is put together, let's look at the special holidays we share!
How many holidays do you think the Church celebrates?

Did you know our church calendar centers around 7 celebrations?
