Youth Ministry at Yardley United
Methodist Church
exists to
share
God's love with
teenagers,
equip
them to experience the
work
of
ministry,
honor
the Lord and
enjoy
one another.
Five Principles of Youth Ministry
Based on:
Matthew 22
37 Jesus replied: “`Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and
greatest commandment. 39 And the second is
like it: `Love your neighbor as yourself.' 40
All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two
commandments."
Matthew 28
19 Therefore go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father and of the Son and of the
Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you. And surely I am
with you always, to the very end of the age."
HONOR: Worship
–Celebrating God’s presence and
honoring Him with our lifestyle
We spend time in worship every Wednesday
evening. We have a praise band that leads us in
music and prayer time before we head to small
groups.
Our church has a Celebration Service Sunday
Mornings at 9am and a Traditional Service at
11am. We love to get together at these
services and worship.
However, worship isn't just singing and praying.
It is how we live our daily lives. That's
why we have language, clothing and respect rules
when we are together.
WORK: Ministry-
Meeting needs with love.
The youth ministry is always in the middle of a
mission, to help others. Some of our
missions include: the yearly
church mission trip,
30 Hour Famine,
Relay for Life, Christmas Caroling
and Thanksgiving Basket deliveries.
SHARE: Evangelism-
Sharing Jesus Christ with those
who don’t know Him yet
We
share Christ with people by teaching teens to be
a light for their friends in need. We have
Sunday evening gatherings, which are low-key:
without the threat of "too much God". This
provides an opportunity for teens to feel
comfortable bringing their friends for the first
time. Once they come, we pray that they will
come back and join us for "more God"
ENJOY: Fellowship-
Being accepted and loved within
the youth ministry community
We
love to just kick back and spend time together!
You will see the youth ministry playing together
during Wednesdays or Sundays. All of our
events include time to simply hang out and get
to know one another.
EQUIP: Discipleship-Strengthening believers in their
journey to be like Christ
Wednesday Evenings are set aside to teach teens
to be like Christ. This is difficult, in a
world that does not talk about Christ.
Teens gather together to learn and discuss REAL
topics they are facing and figure out what God
has to do with their DAILY relationships.
